Nature’s Miracle Hooded Flip Top Litter Box Review

Nature’s Miracle Hooded Flip Top Litter Box Review

What It Is

The Nature’s Miracle Hooded Flip Top Litter Box is exactly what it sounds like — a litter box that comes with a hood and has a front flip top for easy opening.

It’s a fairly large litter box — 25.25 x 18.75 x 16.5 (L x W x H) — and comes with a slot at the top for a charcoal filter. It’s available in two colors: dark gray bottom/off-white hood and light gray bottom/silver hood.

How We Use It

We have four litter boxes in our home, only one of which is a Nature’s Miracle Hooded litter box. It is, by far, our favorite of the four litter boxes.

Its roomy size makes it popular with all of our cats, but also makes it the easiest to clean.

The oversized flip top opens up more than one-third of the hood (11.5 x 14), making it super easy to get into both to scoop stuff out and to pour new litter in.

The large opening also means we rarely bump into it with the scoop, accidentally knocking dirty litter all over the place or scrap the back of our hands against the side — both problems we have with one of our other litter boxes.

The truth about litter boxes may not be what you think. Find out more.

Pros

The flip top! Seriously, we love, love, love the flip top. Every litter box should have one. It just makes getting into the box so easy.

We also love the size of the Nature’s Miracle Hooded litter box. Our cats range in size from about six to 16 pounds, and they all love the box. There’s plenty of room for our biggest cat to move around inside without seeming cramped.

Cons

As much as we love the roominess of the Nature’s Miracle Hooded litter box, it’s also the reason we can have only one of it. It’s so large it doesn’t fit into the small nooks and crannies you often find litter boxes squeezed into.

The company does make one other litter box, but it’s even larger (and does get bad reviews for an issue with leaking).

The irregular size of the charcoal filter holder is another con. Though we don’t use filters, so it’s never been a problem for us, it’s regularly mentioned in reviews.

The space is rectangular, but other than the filters that come with the box when you buy it, the company doesn’t make replacements. The only option is to purchase universal odor control charcoal filters and cut them in half, then cut one of the halves so that you’re using one full half and a two-inch piece of the other half. Seems pretty silly and anyone who really likes using charcoal filters might find this a real turn off.

Cost and Where You Can Buy It

The Nature’s Miracle Hooded Litter box normally retails for around $29, but you’ll sometimes find it on sale for closer to $18.

It’s available at most big-box pet stores, such as Petco, as well as online on sites including Amazon and Chewy.

(Keeping It Pawsome is a member of the Amazon and Petco affiliate networks and does get a tiny percentage of the cost if you buy something.)
